Become a Certified Behaviour Technician
A Certified Behaviour Technician is a Level 1 paraprofessional certification in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
CBTs implement behaviour analytic plans and practice under the direction and close supervision of a Certified Behaviour Specialist – (CBeS) or Certified Behaviour Analyst (CBA), who is responsible for all work the CBT performs.

Before you proceed, please confirm that you have the required information and documents ready to submit with your application.
- A minimum of 21 years old
- Possess a secondary school certificate
- Complete 40 hours of ABA training
- Be recommended by supervisor or trainer
- Complete a criminal background check
- Pass the NIsBEC exam
Additional Information
- Agree to the NIsBEC Professional and Ethical Code of Conduct
- All eligibility criteria will be reviewed by the NIsBEC Board before formal acceptance
- Placement on NIsBEC registry
- Renewed every 2 years
- Obtain 10 CEUs within the renewal cycle
